It is my privilege to represent the interests of Eagan residents as a City Councilmember. I thank you for your support and appreciate the opportunity to serve. It is a pleasure to work with a group that is dedicated to assuring that Eagan makes the right choices to remain one of the best places in which to live and work, recognition that once again was reinforced by Money magazine’s ranking of Eagan in 2010 at #15 in its list of “Best Places to Live” – our third consecutive ranking in the top twenty. It is my honor to be entrusted by the Council to serve in 2011 as acting mayor whenever mayor Maguire is out of the City.
Guiding the Council in our decision making is a set of goals that we adopted to support Eagan’s core values. These goals include continued fiscal prudence while providing quality services; promoting economic vitality; maintaining critical infrastructure; meeting the needs of changing demographics, including our aging population; preserving environmental sustainability; and strengthening civic engagement. I support these goals, and will continue to do so.
I appreciate being able to represent Eagan in various capacities within the City and region, including as a member of the Dakota Communications Center Board of Directors; the Cedar Group, an intergovernmental effort to bring bus rapid transit through the transportation corridor; and as vice chair of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Board. These leadership opportunities are important in ensuring that Eagan’s interests are well represented.
I am very pleased that in 2010 the City’s responsible and prudent fiscal management was rewarded with a Triple A (Aaa) Moody’s bond rating – the highest available rating. This rating is symbolic of the City’s financial strength and creditworthiness as viewed by business, industry, banks, and potential investors.
Thank you for your continued support. Please contact me at (651) 454-1172 or at garyhansen@1stcounsel.com if you have questions or suggestions about issues of importance to you.
