It is my privilege to represent the interests of Eagan residents as a City Councilmember. With your support, I look forward to serving another term. It is a pleasure to work with a group that is dedicated to assuring that Eagan makes the right choices to remain one of the best places in which to live and work, recognition that once again has been reinforced by Money magazine’s ranking of Eagan at #15 in its list of “Best Places to Live” – our third consecutive ranking in the top twenty.
Guiding us as we make these choices is a set of goals that the Council adopted shortly after my election in 2008 to support Eagan’s core values. These goals include continued fiscal prudence while providing quality services; promoting economic vitality; maintaining critical infrastructure; meeting the needs of changing demographics, including our aging population; preserving environmental sustainability; and strengthening civic engagement. I support these goals, and will continue to do so.
Since my election, I have been active in representing Eagan within the City and region. As our representative on the Dakota Communications Center Board of Directors, I successfully influenced re-evaluation of the DCC’s operating expense assessment formula, resulting in significant cost savings for Eagan. As vice chair of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Board, I will continue to work for improved transit service for Eagan residents. These leadership opportunities are important in ensuring that Eagan’s interests are well represented.
I am very pleased that, earlier this year, the City’s responsible and prudent fiscal management was rewarded with a Triple A (Aaa) Moody’s bond rating – the highest available rating. This rating is symbolic of the City’s financial strength and creditworthiness as viewed by business, industry, banks, and potential investors.
